Update of the Sichuan boy with “water on the brain.”

I plan to go to Xichang to visit his parents on our Labor Day weekend. I want to get permission to use a photo of the boy and his parents on the Internet and start making arrangements for medical treatment.

Also I want to garner whatever public support I can, so I will try to get the Chinese media in Xichang and Chengdu interested.

Pete, thanks very much for the update. Maybe we can do another post on this later?

Unbelievable. Just go there.

OK, I give up. Did that Defence Minister REALLY say that China should exterminate North Americans and Aussies and take their land as a drive for lebensraum, or not?!?! I gave the speech to everyone at the school. It must be a hoax- or is it? Someone tell me! Or am I the only one slightly alarmed that a high-ranking official would advise this course of action?

Keir, we are skeptical due to the sources – a F.ajita L.oving G.uys publication and a right-wing, racist American talkshow host. But maybe somebody has tracked this down definitively?

Yes, I will keep posting updates about the boy.

Rumor or not? One of the chief guards at the US Consulate visa center in Tianhe, Guangzhou told me today that someone rammed a car into the metal protective gate at the US Consulate in Guangzhou on Shamian Island. He said the driver was a Chinese person.

Anyone hear or know anything more?

Pete,

Again, I asked you to email me about this matter before, but I never heard from you.

One of my wife’s colleagues has a sone that is a reporter for one of the Chengdu papers.

She’s been bugging me forever to give her an interview, but I’m not up for it. However, you could make a deal that you would do an interview on a foreigners perception of China as long as they report on this story?

Gordon, I keep forgetting to congratulate you on the new mirror site. I haven’t had any time to work on that yet myself – could you email me your new URL if it’s not linked to your name here when you have a chance?

Right:
About that story Defence Nibister Chi Haotian supposedly made, it’s bogus.
I feel like such an idiot, being the only one to go on about it. My girlfriend read the speech in Chinese. After a while she started laughing hysterically. “Jesus Christ, she finds this funny! Slaughtering family to make room for Chinese people so they could liberate Native American kinsmen they never showed any interest in before… I have a fifth column living with me!”
This general first says how happy over 80% of sina.com respondents supported the idea of killing women children and POWs. That makes a great opening paragraph. Then he says “screw this peaceful rise malarky, we have to kill off our enemies. We’ll succeed unlike others because the Japanese weren’t ruthless enough and we’re racially superior to the Germans. After all, we Chinese originated here whereas everyone else came from Africa. We’re in league with Israel (!!!) to get a selective virus that targets other races so when people ask “What about the Chinese living in the US?”, I tell them “Don’t be stupid” (he keeps exhorting his listeners not to be stupid throughout the speech). Some time ago Bush, Blair, Gates and a couple hundred other guys were at a meeting discussing how 80% of the world’s population was surplus rubbish and should be discarded. etc etc etc
Oh, and this Hal Turner sounds like a complete crackpot who promotes violence and murder to further his white supremecist goals. Thus all this talk in the speech about “the yellow race” in leahgue with the Jews.
As Stan Lee would say: “‘Nuff said.”
Or was that Archie….

Gordon:
I can’t get to you by email or even open The Hourse Mouth(mouht hehe).

Sorry about not reponding, but I tried and couldn’t.

Your idea sounds great. I will be returning though Chengdu on 9/5, arriving about 10:10am and having to leave downtown for the airport at about 3:45pm to catch a 5:20pm flight.

If you or your wife can setup something for me it will certainly be appreciated. As a failsafe notion would you send me the report’s name, paper name and tele#?

Perhaps, you, your wife and I can also meet then.

Thanks.

PS: I will pass my eaddress to you through PD, if they would be so kind, as of now I can’t message you directly.

Richard W

While you’ve been lolling about doing god knows what, we’ve been cracking on like the China troopers that we are. Therefore, you’d better start making a few good comments before you start with that free advertising stuff.

I don’t make the rules mate, I only play by ’em 🙂

Pete,

I talked to my wife this evening and she will ask her colleague to mention it to her son.

He only writes small columns, but there’s a chance he can put you in touch with someone else that could get the job done.

Do you have a photo of the boy that you could send me so that I could show my wife and so on?

G.

Fair point Martyn, I’ve had very little time online over the last few weeks and I’m looking forward to contributing more in my usual pithy and quasi-irrelevant manner!
