The Peking Duck officially endorses John Kerry

Just in case you didn’t know… Now go and make me very happy tomorrow. We need a big victory, a huge victory to give Kerry-Edwards a broad mandate. That means we all have to vote, even my friends in New York who say they don’t need to vote since Kerry will win anyway. That kind of selfish and presumptive thinking can be dangerous. Every single vote counts more than ever before. Please, even if you have to wait and be bored. The last thing you want to do is regret not having voted on Tuesday. It’s you, it’s me, it’s all of us, no exceptions. Republicans like Conrad and Sam, et.al. it’s not too late — you can redeem your souls and win back your humanity. Swallow your pride and do it. Don’t you deserve a president who can complete a sentence? Who can admit his mistakes? Who is accountable and responsibe? Who understands the world and how it works? Can’t you see the depths to which we’ve fallen since 911, the day when “everyone was an American”? Now’s your chance to change that, to restore what is beautiful and great about America. It’s all up to you. Vote for Kerry, and vote straight Democratic to help win back the Congress. Enough of Tom DeLay and his cronies, enough of government of bullies and liars. Please — just this once, despite the inconvenience, despite the weather and the traffic and the lines, take a few minutes and help bring America back from the dead. We were so great, so strong, so respected just a few years ago. How could we have let this happen? And how can we not do all we can to get our country back on course? Thank you for stopping by, and be sure to vote tomorrow. It’s our one magnificent chance; don’t let it slip by.

I am so excited about voting for John Kerry tomorrow. He will be a wonderful president. And I won’t have to be embarrassed about being an American.

Actually, you DO pay taxes if you’re an expat, but only on income in excess of (I think) $80,000 a year.

Fuck the tax cuts, I want my country back!

Hi Richard,

Germany officially endorses John Kerry! Old Europe wants that village idiot out of the White House, so we can re-establish our guanxi to what it used to be.

deepocean1974:

One of the thing you must recognise is that the gravest danger to the almost six decades of peace in the Taiwan Straits is President Chen and his determination to take the island down to the path of de jure independence.

China may have voiced its determination to use force to bring Taiwan back its fold, but none of Beijing’s leaders want to take that step unless they were left with no option, come on, what will they gain if they start a war across the Taiwan Straits? Would any leader look good if he uses force on the ethnic Chinese people on the island?

Be pragmatic and peace would last. Taiwan keep the peace because its govt officially is not a Taiwanese but a Republic of China government. The ROC has served the Taiwan people well by maintaining Washington’s support and depriving the CCP regime any excuse to “reunify” the island by force.

And as the ROC government, Taiwan has already enjoyed de facto independence, is it worth sacrificng thousands of Chinese, Taiwanese and American in a major war in the Asia Pacific region lives just to convert a reality into a mere formality?

LANGEE:

If you believe that you won’t mind my sending you my US tax bill this April, okay?

SP:

Trust you to blame Taiwan for Chinese hegemony. How dare they provocatively refuse to submit to one party rule by the most murderous regime in world history.

Well, firstly I don’t get to vote in USA … and you wouldn’t like my vote, even if I did. Still, I did get to help re-elect a Bush ally John Howard recently. Reelect Howard, reelect Bush, reelect Blair … I’m hoping for a 3-peat.

tax cut? yeah, i got my tax cut. all $300 of it. and then the local real estate tax went up by $900 because they can’t pay for the schools anymore (you know, the Leave No Child Behind th ing) and the heating bill will go by by $500 this winter.

tax cut? i am not Bill Bennett and I don’t see no stinking tax cut.

Li En, how can I ever vote for the man who would write discriminatory legislation into our Constitution? Who led us into a war we can’t get out of? Who has lost America’s esteem around the world? Who can’t utter a coherent phrase? Who makes attendees at his speeches sign loyalty pledges? Who has given corporations and the superich a windfall of tax cuts while sneering at the idea of raising the minimum wage? Under whose watch the level of poverty grew precipitously? Who turned the biggest surplus into thegreatest deficit? Who claims God talks through him? No need to answer, because at this point it’s too late. Just food for thought.

That’s about all the vote I get.

Conrad:

Yes, Yes.. the CCP regime is indeed evil and no one denies it. In fact, i would have favoured Chiang’s Nationalist China than the PRC, after all, the KMT authoritarian regime finally gave way to democracy. I am more of tilted to the KMT personally because of its achivement in realising republicanism in China. Being a KMT-leaning Chinese, no matter how i hated the CCP and communism, both the ideological foes shared one consensus: in the world there is only but one China and Taiwan is part of China, we differ in whose China is the rightful China, but we never waver on the fact that the island is Chinese territory. And this has been the late Chiang’s and the KMT’s stance which contributed to the peace in the Taiwan Straits and keep Taipei’s alliance firm with the US. Even Bush cannot stand Chen’s dangerous adventures and aroused Washington’s mistrust for your information.

And you don’t seem to repent on the fact that in politics, don’t ever try to be a moral saint and preach morals to others, because once you do that, it is so crude, pretentious and hypocritcal. The US should the last to criticize other states on human rights and all the shit about moral highground. Given her own record in Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, My Lai supporting dictators like the Shah, Syngman Rhee, Ngo Dinh Diem and Pol Pot and the House of Saud, to judge others with this very “impressive” record of yours is bloody disgusting. Its just like a pastor who has a record of stealing, adultery preaching to you the Ten Commandments before you. Only Conrad would still buy that pastor’s doyble standards. Come on, if you want others to live by your standards, abide by them first, don’t try to canonise yourself like a innocent saint. Thats utter deceit, be a grown up and have a good look at yourself first.

Way to go Jing … I’m sure your razor-like wit has really put Conrad in his place and taught him the error of his ways.
