Arriving in Beijing later this week – anyone for a dinner?

Other Lisa and I will be in Beijing this coming week, and we’re hoping some other China-centric bloggers and blog readers will join us for dinner next Saturday night, May 13. The last dinner we had in Beijing was great, with 12 or so attending. (I’m hoping we can meet at the same restaurant near Kerry Center for their heavenly Beijing kaoya.)

The next weekend Lisa and I plan to be in Shanghai; I’ve never tried to organize a blogger dinner over there, but it sure sounds like a fun idea. I’ll keep you posted. Meanwhile, if you want to meet up, either in Beijing or Shanghai, please let me know in the comments or by email and I’ll make sure you get the details once the plans are made. I literally can’t wait; I love Taipei, but sometimes you need a change of ambience. Right now is just such a time.

Update: Have received many emails about this; looks like we’ll gt a good crowd again.

Hi Hao Wu! (Nice name!) I’ve been reading your site for a couple of days in preparation for coming to China. I’ll be arriving in Shanghai on the 20th, so I would love to meet you guys on my first ever day in the Middle Kingdom!!!!

Not quite sure I should be meeting other laowai (foreigners) on my first day in China, but what the heck! Keep us informed and keep writing the beijing kaoya!

Oh how I’d love to come, if only it could have been set for July. Maybe we will have another dinner with Richard and Lisa in Beijing to look forward to in the not too distant future?

I’ll need to get an advance at work first; girlfriend ran off to go scubadiving in SE Asia and she took my bankcard so I won’t have drunk it away by the time she comes back for our trip to Italy…

Yes, drop me an e-mail. This Saturday? May be somewhat tricky – I have a large freelance gig this week – but with any luck I’ll have it done or done enough to justify going out to myself.

Which kaoya place do you have in mind?

Scheduling is a bit tricky for me on Sat, but I hope to make it!

Jeffery, I do plan to go to Xiamen and Shanghai after Beijing. Any chance you can get to either of those cities?

Pity. I’m flying to London then.

Richard – Long time fan and occasional poster. If you have a dinner in Shanghai let me know and I will do my best to attend.

If not, let me at least stand you to a drink or two…

I think at all those gatherings you should set up a faceless cardboard cutout to represent anyone who has trolled here under multiple identities. And then attach a cardboard cutout “speech-balloon” (like in a cartoon) and attach it to the cut-out’s mouth, pasted over with random twaddle cut and pasted from google.

I will be in my business trip to Shanghai next week, but don’t know whether free or not for a meeting.

I found it was so difficult to understand what you tlaked about. Maybe it’s because I’m still in poor that I think it’s so luxurious for me to have a dinner.

Jeffery, send me an email.

JungHwa, if you want to go to the dinner, send me an email. You can be our guest.

Welcome back to the hometown of Peking duck, in spite of the fact that I can’t enjoy the atomsphere of the city any more and plan a leave for shift in the near future. It’s a pity to miss the chance to be acquainted with such excellent bloggers like you. Maybe next time.

thanks for your invitation. I think I should ceaselessly stimulate myself to improve my culture and the speed of money coming my pocket. You must be ready for to be my guest when you next come back bj. ๐Ÿ™‚ I know the friendliness between you and the buddies who are willing to have a dinner with you and admire you not because of having dinner but the friendliness. I have to claim that it’s just a joke I talked in my post. ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe you were offended by my last psot and I say sorry to you sincerely in this post.
