Promotion

Well, it’s official — my company today promoted me from Senior Copywriter to Manager of Public Relations, a big step up the ladder and the job I’ve been hoping for since I got here.

It’s an incredible opportunity and it will certainly change my life dramatically. I’ve never been a manager with a big, publicly traded company before. While it’s a little daunting, I feel up to it; I can do PR in my sleep (one of the few things in life I’m completely confident about). And I have a real vision for putting this company on the map.

Hopefully this will be the psychological boost that gets me blogging again, as opposed to the pseudo-blogging I’ve been doing the past few weeks. In my stupor, site traffic has dropped literally 50 percent in the past month. Hopefully now I’ll bounce back.

Congrats on the promotion. PR was always one of the jobs I DIDN’T want to do. But sounds like a “great leap forward”

I better see a post about director and then VP in the next 2 – 3 years ๐Ÿ˜‰

Maybe I’ll see you at some tech or PR events that I never go to in the city.

Congratulations Richard, on your promotion to Public Relations Manager. I hope your new workload will not prevent you from being able to find both the time and the energy to continue with your blogging, and with our debates!

And without the luxury of time, you will not be able to invest your energies into research – something you desperately need to do if you want to validate your views, and if you want to stand a chance of ever being able to convincingly counter my arguments! ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope your new job proves to be an intellectually rich and rewarding one for you.

Best regards,
Mark Anthony Jones

Good for you Richard. Like the post says above. “Nice guys can finish first.” In your case YOU DID.

Okay, I’ll finally comment. Congratulations! We’re thrilled to hear the news. As Rachel said “You must be a genius.”

Right on yer, Mate. And while we realize that the job takes precedence, I echo Mr. Jones (and everyone else) in my desire that it not impact the blogging.

Rachel is wrong; I’m not a genius, I just saw an opportunity and went for it. But thanks anyway!

And thanks to everyone for the support. I start the new job next Wednesday, after a badly needed five-day vacation starting tomorrow.

Congrats also Richard. As they say, you’ve come along way baby!
