Too strange – you just have to check it out. Then follow the link... The author doesn’t look like a fool, but I’ll have more faith in his theories after I understand them better.

“There Will Not Be Blood” because Al-Qaeda Is Fiction: The Organization Doesn’t Exist
Mark Perkel | July 4 2005
… three films produced by the BBC called “The Power of Nightmares” which explain how various groups use the fear of terrorism to advance their political power. …. it’s quite an education into the history of Islamic Terrorism and American neo conservatives……BBC …. film makes a shocking revelation. The terrorist group al-Qaeda in fact does not exist. It was made up in January of 2001 in order to prosecute Osama bin Laden in his absence. In order to prosecute bin Laden there had to be an organization like the Mafia for which he was a part of. Under the law if such an organization exists then the head of the organization can be prosecuted under the law. So in order to bring the prosecution they made up the organization and called it al-Qaeda. But the organization is fiction. It doesn’t exist. It’s all a huge fraud.

After 9-11 – a terrorist act that was organized by a bin Laden aide and funded by bin Laden – Bush dug up the name al-Qaeda from the prosecutors in the New York case against him. And since then we have been in a battle against a fictional enemy. The very people who made the story up now are believing their own lies.
Keep in mind that this was made by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) which is hardly some tin foil hat organization!

Matt is probably nanhe using a different name

March 1, 2008 @ 10:44 pm | Comment

Ferin’s reference to “Matt” is not to the Matt who posted the comment above. It is to another Matt, who put up what may be the most offensive comment in the entire history of this blog, celebrating Hitler’s butchery of the Jews. It was gone the second I saw it.

Your comment, ferin, is kind of dumb. You’re a smart guy – why do you need to lower yourself like that?

March 1, 2008 @ 11:13 pm | Comment

only someone like nanhe would post something that deliberately offensive.

March 1, 2008 @ 11:21 pm | Comment

I’m not one to talk about who shoudl say what, but, um, Richard, dont you see what “Matt” said above. amhe is not as bad as that, for sure…. Richard, while its being mentionned, I have to tell you that I take just as much offense to CCP apologetics as you would to Hitler apologetics. Hitler is not worse than Mao and friends in the least, and you should know that.

I dont want to tell you what to think, but its right foolish to hoist up the holocauste as the worste, just because you are unaware. This is a painful time for people who know the CCP and have to bear seeing the worlds people praise them while saying never again about the holocauste, its bull, and its awful.

March 2, 2008 @ 12:34 am | Comment

“Hitler is not worse than Mao and friends in the least, and you should know that.”

No, he is in a lot of ways much, much worse. And that’s saying a lot. Mao killed with incompetence, Hitler deliberately thought through his plans for genocide and imperialism. What he planned and failed to do is even more disgusting than what he actually succeeded in doing.

March 2, 2008 @ 12:56 am | Comment

“Matt” is either ferin or Wayne, or maybe hongxing, especially with the anti-semitism.

Again, my “China bashing” is under close scrutiny while a panda sniffer can freely celebrate 9-11 and jew-bashing.

Ferin’s new found calm is probably due to the hatred he unleashes on my blog.

Nice job.

March 2, 2008 @ 2:00 am | Comment

ferin, mao did made the people give all their food to the state and it rotted away, was consumed by fat commies or was traded away to the Russians. Do you think Mao didnt know in time that everyone was dying? There were cadres everywhere spying and propagandising in every corner, hauling grain off and starving the people. The CCP just took the food right out of their mouths. And that is only one horrendous evil movement. The cultural revolution (psychotic exorcise in terrorism) killed more than the holocaust, anyway, death toll is not the key factor although the CCP beats hitler by alot for killing.

Old say.

The enemy of my enemy if my friend……. until we defeat our common enemy… and then my new friend becomes my new enemy.

The question is… which enemy do I prefer? The old one or the new one?

I would rather prefer a well known old enemy than a flashy new enemy.

Remember the fedayin freedom fighters that the USA used as friends to fight the Russian common enemy in Afghanistan?
One of those friends there was a certain Osama Bin Laden

China, choose your enemies well!

Homosexuality is immoral, a woman who does not conform to live as simple housewife is immoral.

You betrayed yourself Matt.

The list of evils you listed is just a justification for your own crimes. Justice is the last thing you want, you are just a servant of humanity butchers.

Go to sleep, you are deranged.

March 2, 2008 @ 6:15 am | Comment

I can confirm that Matt is not nanhe. It is Wayne, as was suspected.

Please do not make wild accusations, gents. Anyone with complaints about posters using multiple handles can e-mail richard. The blog is not a place for witch-hunts. If this continues comments will be liable for deletion or junking.

March 2, 2008 @ 9:22 am | Comment

Thanks Raj.

Matt is also the commenter who went by the names Jeb and Wei, based on the IP address.

Unfortunately, there is another Matt who comments here (we’ll call him “Good Matt”) and he wrote some serious comments at the top of this thread that then got deleted when Bad Matt started spamming the thread. Thus my cryptic comment to ferin at the top of the thread, when Good Matt’s comments were still here. Good Matt, sorry about the accidental deletion!

youguys, I think you missed an important point of The Power of nightmares, which I thought was quite good documentary. Al Qaeda as Bush presents it truly does not exist – he makes it sound like an actually organization headed by Bn Laden, like Darth Vader in a space ship. In reality it’s a loosely joined hodge-podge of terror groups all held together by an obsession with the notion of fundamentalist Islam. But they do exist, they do have many members who have studied explosives and engineering and who have quite a good track record when it comes to mass murder. The myth is representation of AQ as a unified entity run by OBL. Zawahiri is much more the brains behind it, and it is such a fragmented mess that we can never defeat it by winning in one country like Iraq or Afghanistan. All the “war on terror” did was fragment them further, making them more elusive, and giving them may new recruits. Power of Nightmares acknowledges Bin Laden’s and Zawahiri’s creation of a terror network, but makes the point that in the current war on terror we are simply “chasing phantoms.”

@richard,

I see. I shall keep that in mind. Thank you very much for clarifying that.
Last week, my good American friend recommended the movie “Lord of War,” and I was like wow! I hope you don’t mind me posting the dialogs in the movie that really got me thinking. *Please feel free to delete them if you think they’re inappropriate or off topic:
Nicolas Cage: There is nothing illegal about what I do.

Wife: I don’t care if it is legal – It’s wrong!

Baptiste, President of Liberia: “Welcome to democracy. You have not seen the news? You know they accuse me of rigging elections. But after this. With your Florida; Your Supreme Court of Kangroos now. The US will shut up forever.”

Cage’s monologue: Every faction in Africa call themselves with these noble names Liberation This, Patriotic That, Democratic Republic of Something Rather. I guess they can know now what they usually are Federation of World Suppressors in the Last Bunch of Oppressors. Often the most barbaric atrocities occur when both call themselves freedom fighters.

Cage to Agent Valentine: Tell me I am everything you despised. That I am the personification of evil. That I am, what? Responsible for the breakdown of the fabric of society and world order I am a one-man genocide. Say everything you wanna say to me now because you don’t have more…
Soon there is gonna be a knock on that door and you will be called outside
In the hall, there will be a man who outranks you. First, he will complement
you on the fine job you have done and you are making the world safer place
that you are to receive commendation and a promotion and then, he is going
to tell you that I am to be released. You’re gonna protest. You’ll probably threaten to resign. But in the end, I will be released. The reason I will be released is the same reason you think I’ll be convicted. I do rub shoulders some of the most vile sadistic man, calling themselves leaders today. But some of those men, are the enemies of your enemies While the biggest arms dealer in the world is your boss, The President of United States which ships more merchandise in a day than I do in a year sometimes it is embarrassing to have his fingerprints on the guns sometimes he needs a freelancer like me to supply forces he can’t be seen supplying. So? You call me evil, but unfortunately for you, I am a necessary evil.

I read it was not a hit movie in America. I am surprised; to me it is as important as “CRASH,” and definitely more meaningful than “Chicago,” which won the Oscars. Anyway, I just want all your erudite opinions on …the morals of war, whatever. Thanks.

“I can confirm that Matt is not nanhe. It is Wayne, as was suspected.”

That’s the same guy Ferin thinks is so funny, right?

“Not only are you a dumbass, but a filthy lying whore subhuman. Get cancer and die.

Posted by: ferins at December 23, 2007 03:54 AM”

That Ferin! They really do have a great sense of humor.

March 2, 2008 @ 10:37 am | Comment

That’s enough, ferin, you’ve been warned before. Personal comments like that are not what we want.

If you want to stay here you need to shape up. If you only want to troll please say so, and we’ll ensure you’re added to our ban list.

March 3, 2008 @ 2:45 am | Comment

Ferin said: “only someone like nanhe would post something that deliberately offensive.”

Excuse me? Oh right, ferin, the ambassador of Vulgaria, never, ever said anything “deliberately offensive”. That would be against his nature.

March 3, 2008 @ 5:48 am | Comment

Mor, as mentioned that offensive comment from ferin about getting cancer was deleted when I saw it. You’re right – not acceptable.

For the time being both nanhe and ferin are banned; demonstrate you’re not here to provoke and infuriate and we’ll reconsider.

March 3, 2008 @ 7:50 am | Comment

Richard, you are flat wrong to ban nanhe. Full stop. I don’t know what your agenda is with him. Of course, now everyone will chime in “it IS Richard’s blog.” Whatever.

You are so thin-skinned these days. What ever happened to the torch-bearer of free ideas of old? I don’t think you are able to handle the stress of your job and this blog at the same time.

You have indeed jumped the shark.

March 3, 2008 @ 12:52 pm | Comment

No, not everyone, canrun. You ask a good question. I have (eye)witnessed the whole of the latest troll infestation here, and I can find no rational explanation, either.

March 3, 2008 @ 2:19 pm | Comment

canrun, here’s the story: nanhe organized a spam attack on this blog. He has participated in a conversation outside this blog that has the sole purpose of hurting me. This is my blog, and when people try to hurt me I do not need to give them space here. It’s that simple. This is a fucking blog, a hobby. If I am such a monster, please go elsewhere. But to try to organize others to attack me as if I’m a killer – well, let people do as they wish in their free time. But I do not have to give them a say here. You can’t lecture me about having a thin skin because you have no idea just how crude, cruel and vengeance-driven this crowd can be. I have given nanhe free rein until now. This was crossing a line. Busy now, more later.

Ferin, I am deleting your comments and asking you to please disappear for a couple of weeks. Come back when you are ready to treat people here with respect. Thanks.

March 3, 2008 @ 3:27 pm | Comment

Well, I witnessed the attack. I wouldn’t call it full-on spam-botting, but it was pasting the same comment in multiple threads, on multiple occasions, it was personal and it was nasty. Also pretty juvenile. Clicking on the link left in the comment directed readers of Peking Duck to a blog entry devoted to attacking Richard, populated by Nanhe and a couple other familiar characters. The handle on the post was a phrase used by Kebab Boy, which he proudly defended on said blog, in-between venomous attacks on Richard.

So, Canrun, banning Nanhe strikes me as pretty damn justified. The last time I checked, people aren’t obligated to open their homes to folks who mug them and steal the silverware.

I’m keeping track of the IP addresses involved as well.

All of which brings me to the question of the day – don’t some of you have anything fucking better to do than to hang out on blogs all day and attack and insult people? You go to war with somebody you don’t even know in person, you try to ruin their reputation, and for what? Is this your idea of fun? Did you get bored with shoving firecrackers up frogs’ asses or something?

You know there’s this thing called a “life.” Some of you might want to consider getting one.

March 3, 2008 @ 4:38 pm | Comment

Thanks Lisa. This blog is my personal hobby. I allow comments as a courtesy to people who agree to very basic groundrules. After what nanhe did, plus the 30+ spam comments he has posted in the past 15 minutes, I do not need to give him a platform here. If you say you hate me, that I am a “panda licker” (a crude and obscene insult) and worse, why would I offer you space here? I know, that makes me a fascist, but guys, if you don’t like me there are many, many other delightful blogs out there. Please go there, and take it easy.

March 3, 2008 @ 5:36 pm | Comment

I’ve seen that infamous other blog where they obviously don’t know what topic to write about, so they’ve decided to attack Richard. I stand corrected. Now I know why certain people have been banned. You don’t enter somebody else’s house in order to trash the host. If you don’t like The Peking Duck, just stay away!

March 3, 2008 @ 7:06 pm | Comment

mor, thanks a lot for that comment. I think most people know I am a pretty reasonable guy who won’t delete anything until provoked to the point where I don’t feel I have a choice. And even then, I let people try again and comment here. The only exception I make is if they proactively and aggressively seek to do me harm, as MAJ and only two or three others have done. I appreciate that you were able to see what’s happening over there, and the glee they are deriving from this.

March 3, 2008 @ 7:10 pm | Comment

Well, we’ll have to take your word for it. Everything/everyone is so cryptic on the Internet. Based on what Nanhe has personally said on THIS blog, you have NO reason to ban him. If he is doing stuff on other blogs then, well, that’s your call I guess.

March 3, 2008 @ 8:14 pm | Comment

Yes, canrun, that is what he is doing, and yes, that is my call. This was his choice. I always went out of my way to offer him a voice despite complaints from others. He is probably the most prolific commenter here, and I always told him I respected his intelligence.

I realize he may not agree with me, but there is a big difference between disagreement and hatred. Despite the insults I kept the door open until now. His choice.

March 3, 2008 @ 8:20 pm | Comment

regarding the article it is clearly nonsense. there is no centralised terrorist network to negotiate with. just a lunatic ideology that any nutcase with a home made bomb can sign on using the blood of dozens, if not hundreds of people. why would the chinese negotiate anyway? do they really think they can’t prevent an attack on the games? or that one is likely?

bloody gibberish

March 3, 2008 @ 8:57 pm | Comment

Canrun, believe me, what they are doing is so far from cool I’m not sure how to label it…”Pathetic” is one good descriptor.

March 4, 2008 @ 4:16 am | Comment

Well, I’ll take your word for it. This blog used to be a whole lot of fun, until it was taken over by fenqing and formerly humorous moderators. Read on for examples:

http://www.pekingduck.org/archives/002589.php

March 8, 2008 @ 4:15 pm | Comment

canrun, if people make offensive comments you can report them. Otherwise everyone has a right to be heard if they abide by a few rules as richard says. Repeatedly attacking the host of the blog is one way to get kicked off.

But as richard said he is willing to tolerate nanhe and ferin if they come back after a month or so and show they can post and not be jerks.

In some respects there is more hope for nanhe as if he leaves richard alone and doesn’t shift his frustration towards other people, he could probably stay. Whereas ferin has shown he is a rather unpleasant character who will have to walk a very fine line to avoid being permanently banned.

March 9, 2008 @ 9:44 pm | Comment

Actually Raj, that’s not entirely correct. Ferin is a pain, he is a smart-ass and when he says things like “I hope you get cancer” I delete his comments at once. But being “an unpleasant character” is not grounds for being banned. I have never banned anyone for that reason. I have banned them for overt racism (wishing death on Jews and Japanese or Chinese); for sock-puppeting (using multipe IDs to create cheerleaders in the comments); for spamming; and for intentionally disrupting the site by throwing threads off-track. That last one is more subjective than others, but we all know it when we see it, like Wei/Jeb the other day on the Brendan thread.

Ferin and Nanhe are very similar. They are both smart and they are both opinionated. Ferin is smarter, however – he kept his bitching within the confines of the site. What I will never tolerate is someone going outside and trying to instigate others to come here and attack the site as nanhe did. He spammed this blog and others with his incitement, and IP addresses prove it. I’ll still give him a chance to prove his good will, but I see this as far more serious than Ferin’s idiotic insults, which I would hope you all see as a statement about him and not yourselves. Like Hongxing and Math, I usually just leave it up as a testament to their own foolishness, if I even read them at all. What nanhe did was in a whole different zone, and as mor observed above, these guys are asking to be banned.

Canrun, if you miss nanhe a lot, you can always go to his blog, the name of which says it all. One-trick ponies like that can become tiresome fast, and the comments all sound the same, but if you need your fix of 24/7 China loathing that’s the place to be.

March 9, 2008 @ 10:32 pm | Comment

But being “an unpleasant character” is not grounds for being banned.

I was using that as a generic expression for his “bannable behaviour” – personal attacks, etc.
