“Free Global Calling from Jajah”

Being a world-famous blogger, I get PR pitches for products and books fairly often, most of which promptly go into the trash. Today’s pitch, however, came from one of my old cronies in SIlicon Valley with whom I worked in the glorious dot-com days, when money flowed like tapwater and we thought the good times would never end. (We were wrong.) Due to my appreciation of my fellow flack, I’m going to direct readers to their product – not only because I like the senders, but because it sounds quite amazing, if a bit too good to be true. I mean, being able to dial anyone in the world from my computer for free without having to download special software and without having to don a headset sure sounds appealing. Especially to those of us who live a half-world away from home. Here’s the link; is it God’s gift to mankind, a rip-off or a dud? Since they have the courage to pitch bloggers, my friends had better have the fortitude to deal with commenters. Please let me know what you think.

I tried the service without registering and made one call. The quality was as good as Skype. The coverage is broader. I suspect they are developing a database for use down the road when the service becomes pay per call.

Skype now offers computer to phone service in the U.S. and Canada and is free until the turn of the year. The quality is quite good with a Skype compatible USB phone.

Free is good.

Well, I tried it and was surprised that it actually works. I’m afraid there simply has to be a catch. As Jim says above, maybe they’ll try to snare you in and then start applying fees. Or maybe they’ll pay their bills with advertising? Anyway, as long as it’s free and it works, I can’t complain. Thanks.

Hi,

We have developed a Desktop phone buddy for Jajah, which will take the currently selected number in a windows application and dial the number using a hot key, plus redial and quick dial functionality.

Great in a business environment, like ours…

Download at http://www.jajahphonebuddy.com

please try out and give us feedback….

Hi,
It is free, but it is only a hour a day and both of parties need to register their phone number. Their software still has some problem to calculate the rate. I already filed complain one month ago, but they have not fixed it. So, be careful when you make the call. By the way, they automatically assign $3.00 credits to you. If you do not pay the amount after you use it, they will suspend your account.

Good luck!

John
