Raggin’ on China

Everyone in America is upset with Bush’s meetings with Hu, from the National Association of Manufacturers (big surprise) to the Falun Gong (another bg surprise) to Congress. Business as usual.

Despite the pessimistic tone of the message on the Falun Gong incident, I would say that this much shorter post that you have baked is much more troubling. The fact that nobody saw a breakthrough is going to mean that anti-China protectionism within the US will only increase……..especially since China now registers a blistering growth of 10.2%. I did get some amusement out of this bit though:

“While Hu was greeted by a 21-gun salute during the elaborate South Lawn ceremony, the White House announcer referred to the “Republic of China,” the formal name of Taiwan, rather than the “People’s Republic of China” before China’s national anthem was played.”

Hehehe….One China my @$$.

Thomas, to be sure we in Taiwan chuckled on the faux pas of the announcer before the anthem.

For my feelings on falun gong, reference the previous post on raggin on them.
