A grotesque miscarriage of justice

It’s refreshing to see the left and right sides of the blogosphere join one another to protest a racist, judicially insane perversion of the law. Every blogger should be speaking out. It’s exactly the sort of story that gives the CCP trolls in here an opportunity to say, “See! The US system is just as bad as China’s!” Let’s show the world that they’re wrong, and that Americans won’t tolerate old-school racist “Southern justice.”

Hmmm

Maybe I should be glad that I dont’ live in a “free and equal democracy” like the United States.

I will take my semi feudal homeland anyday.

Well, this is pretty rare and the fact that there’s such an outcry is a good thing. Every system has its injustices. This is not indicative if the US, but of certain parts of the South that are still in the dark ages.

Unbelievable: Death Row for Self-Defense

Reading The Peking Duck, I read about this:
It’s in the middle of the night in Mississippi. A black guy, the name’s Cory Maye, never had anything to do with the police, is alarmed by intruders in the middle of the night. He shoots one of …

ACB: “I will take my semi feudal homeland anyday.”

I’m glad you don’t live here, either. And your homeland isn’t semi-feudal, or even feudal – people in feudal systems have some basic rights. Only in communist systems do people have no rights whatsoever – since, by definition, a communist system that persecutes and kills him is acting in his best interests. If a Zhuang minority had killed the son of a local police chief in China, he would have disappeared without a trace, never mind shown up for a trial. If the Chinese police chief had gone through the motions of a trial, the suspect would have been tortured until he confessed, gone through a trial and final appeal the same day, and then shot. And none of it would have received any coverage in the press.

Zhang Fei,
Have you ever heard of the infamous ‘two less and one lenient’ policy? i.e. the No.5 policy direction issued by the State Council in 1984?

If not, please do try to have at least a basic understanding of the legal status of ethnic minorities in China before making comments.

Zhang Fei

You obviously haven’t been reading my ‘about me’ page have you.

I was not born on the mainland, I was not raised there, and my Mandarin is also far from fluent.

I also do not hold mainland citizenship and would never dream of entering or exiting China using anything less than the foreign passport that I inherited from my father.

You have (or so I believe) two Chinese parents and were probably raised in the old Chinese ways, making you are far more Chinese than I am. China’s unfortunate system reflects significantly more on you than it does on me.

I can sit back on my high horse and proclaim myself to be a foreigner.
