Thanks a lot, Atrios, and thanks to Oliver Willis, too. This is just after two hours.

Update: And thanks to The Left Coaster as well.

Enjoy it while you can. The blogosphere is very fickle.

Wow…. 3,000 people log in per diem?! And here I thought pekingduck was a nice intimate family environment with a few crazy uncles we keep trying to hide in the closet….

Keir, it’s a passing thing — in a few hours, it’ll be over and traffic will trickle back down. But boy, it’s nice to think of 2,000 people each hour reading what you have to say. Unfortunately, focusing on Asia this site can never command big volume, but then again, I like it when it’s an intimate community.

I’ve gotten linked by Kevin Drum a few times and it’s always amazing to see that traffic spike. After about 72 hours you go back to normal, though.

Yeah, I’ve been there, fiat. I got an Instapundit link once in 2002, but I was in China and I had not tracking tool, so I only found out after I got home! This and a link from David Winer of Scripting News were my best so far.

Kier, it’s a nice intimate family of crazy uncles. Get that straight.

Well, some of them I don’t want to be too intimate with…

Hey Sam, you are part of that family. We may not always agree, but there’s definitely a lot of cyber-bonding here.

Congrats on the Atrios link Richard. I just popped over and read it via proxy. Enjoy the hits!

I’m not au fait with the daily ins-and-outs of the US political scene but I enjoy reading what’s baked up here on TPD. Keep it up.

If you thought that Atrios mention would put you through the roof, wait until you see the spike from today’s article in China Daily, and my own humble post.

Carl, why would you link to that China Daily “article” by Madge? It has a story behind it, and it’s not a happy one. Please don’t be offended, but I have to remove that link from your comment, as the writer violated my personal privacy, printing my last name against my wishes and potentially damaging my career option. Also, the story is a lot of cut and pastes, not to mention a really nasty piece of work. I have no obligation to let Peking Duck be a conduit to that kind of crap. Thanks.

Also, that story is well over a month old and has caused me all sorts of unhappiness. All my regular commenters are well aware of it and will be happy to fill you in.
