Today is the birthday of a friend of mine from Beijing, one of the people dearest to my heart and a source of some of my fondest memories of Beijing. He has recently started a blog, and his little essay on his entering his second quarter-century is absolutely beautiful, recounting how a boy from a poor rural family made his way to the megalopolis of Beijing.
