Microsoft sees the light

This is no doubt due at least in part to a lot of external and internal pressure, but it’s still good to see Microsoft do the right thing.

On a related note, the FDA is banning gay men from becoming sperm donors (all for safety and health reasons of course).

I read about the FDA’s decision, and am amazed at just how stupid our leaders can be. Only in the Age of Bush.

Does this mean that you think Bill Gates deserves to be called a reformer?

Sorry. Couldn’t resist.

So, its O for Microsoft to bow to left wing pressure and support this reform, , but it is not OK for it to bow to pressure fro the right not to suport it?

You can’t have it both ways. The same mechanism that gives the rigt leverage also give it to the left.

ACB, it’s not a matter of bowing to left-wing or right-wing pressure, at least not entirely. Microsoft had always taken a liberal stand on this issue and always supported gay rights legislation. MICROSOFT bowed to right-wing pressure and threw away its own pricniples of more than 20 years. The left demanded it remain faithful to its liberal policies. And Microsoft decided to stay on the same course it had chosen for more than 2 decades.

I will remember that next time the governemnt swings from left to right, and then back right again under presure from powerful lobbiests.

I support the morals in Microsofts argument, but I don’t like the way that business, politics and the Christian right/so called ‘athiest left’ are all becoming intertwined on the whole gay rights issue.
