Sorry, I think spam is once again wreaking havoc on my site. I’ve been hit with nearly 20,000 spam comments over the past two weeks, and that causes all kinds of problems. Hopefully it’ll be under control soon…

Update: Back up. What an annoyance. I don’t like spammers.

I feel your pain. Been to Kitten’s?

Thanks for the link, it seems to have some good stuff. I’m using MT Blacklist now which is great, but the sheer quantity of the attacks is the issue — I don’t know if the solutions Kitten reviews would make any difference in that area. None of the spam is appearing on my site thanks to Blacklist, but it still overwhelms my server.

Recently I’ve been banning IP addresses of not only spam I’ve blocked but of those which show up on my activity log as having been blocked repeatedly by Blacklist. In using both the IP banner and Blacklist I’ve cut spam down to a trickle. Until a month ago I hardly ever used the IP banner, but it does seem to help.

Actually, I didn’t notice you were using MT. Kitten mainly writes plugins for WP. The spammers seem to have hit all of us the past couple of months…
