Impeach Cheney?

Remember Whitewater, and our eagerness to appoint a special prosecutor? It was all founded on nothing, but that’s the way we do things in America; if there’s reason to be suspicious, we investigate.

In the case of a memo from Cheney’s office directing the army to choose Halliburton over other contractors in Iraq, it appears we have a smoking gun, certainly way more evidence than we had with Whitewater. And it appears Rumsfeld, too, was steering work to Halliburton, which could end up billing the government as much as $18 billion for its work in Iraq. (Damn, that’s more than I’ve made in my entire life.)

So what are we waiting for? Investigate, for Christ’s sake, and if there’s enough there, impeach. The country is being raped, while the architects of war and their buddies are getting rich beyond all belief.

Heh heh heh… I can tell you weren’t in the US during the Monica Lewinsky investigation with Ken Starr.

I was too! What makes you think I wasn’t? It was the most disgusting fiasco I’ve ever seen. Impeach Clinton over a blowjob, while letting the nation’s top leaders under Bush get away with real crimes. No comparison. (For perspective, consider the cost of dry-cleaning Monica’s dress — probably about $4.50 — with what we’re paying Halliburton — $18 frikking billion!)

Oh yes, by all means, that’s just what the country needs. Another bitter, devisive, entirely unjustified impeachment scandal.

Can the US please, please, please take politicsout of the courthouse and put it back in the voting booth where it belongs?

And why hasn’t Larry Klayman of Judicial Watch been disbarred yet?

So, should we only impeach Democrats? And let’s face it, we’re talking a lot of money here and, if the story pans out, a true abuse of power for personal gain.

My vote goes to investigating Cheney and beginning impeachment against him if there are grounds.

If something is not done in an official way about all the abuses of power by Bush’s administration we will have a national government that be no better than Tammany Hall. Where better to start than a thorough investigation of Cheney.

Clinton was impeached for perjury – not a blowjob.

What are the grounds for impeachment of Cheney if the e-mail is true?

Perjury — in regard to a question about a blowjob. A question that shouldn’t have been asked and that had nothing to do with Whitewater, the subject Starr was appointed to investigate. A classic example of “gotcha!” That’s why Clinton’s ratings kept going up as facts about the investigation came out. He had done nothing that hurt anyone else, that had infringed on our national security or had enriched himself unfairly. He made a stupid mistake, he let his dick rule his brain, but a lot of men do that and they all sympathized. Stupid, disgusting, immoral, etc. — but not worth impeaching, or so ruled our Congress.

If Cheney pulled strings to get Halliburton business it has to be investigated. If he did so, and profitted himself he should be impeached. That’s the kind of crime that should concern us all. I’ll hold off any judgement until I know more, but if it pans out, it’s way worse than any private lapse in moral judgement committed by our last legally elected president.

By all means, investigate. And if the findings are negative, please have the honesty and courage to say “I was wrong”

Sam, I can’t do the investigating myself, but if it is investigated and disproved I’ll be the first to acknowledge it.

Interesting how the democrats are generally involved in scandals involving sex, while the republicans always seem to get caught up in lies about power and corruption of power.
