Sizzling comments

Some topics bring out the fighter in people, and gay marriage is certainly one of them. Two separate threads over at Adri’s blog, here and here, provide the proof. Interesting reading — for a while. Then, like so many other threads on these emotionally charged topics, it disintegrates into a shouting match.

Sad, isn’t it? It always happens. That’s why I jumped ship halfway through.

The really puzzling thing is that everyone involved in the argument actually did agree that gay civil unions, at least, should be allowed. Enthymeme’s rants are supposedly examples of devil’s advocacy. Yes, all 2.5 million of them. Go figure.

I’d rather read the ones at Metafilter (which incidentally, was covered quite a long time ago), but it was quite nice to see intelligent elitists reduced to “f**kwits” and “dumbf**ks”.
