China’s enclaves of eternal life

Interesting article on areas in China where people live well into their 90s, as did their parents and grandparents before them, with many living past 100.

It seems the key trick is avoiding fat and protein and eating lots of savory things like bitter gourds and soy beans. Somehow I can’t see many Americans going for that….

We’re constantly getting conflicting information. We’re told that the people in one culture are healthy and long-lived because they consume little fat or protein. Then we’re told about a different culture in which the people eat a lot of fat and protein and are healthy and long-lived. Often, a closer look reveals that the claims are largely myth.

Great point. I think the reports about the longevity in these places are accurate. The myths are the reasons the reporters cite: One day it’s that the people eat less fat, the next it’s that they drink olive oil, the next it’s that they eat bitter gourds (yeck)…..

Where can you find the fererence of a community in China which can cure and help getting better over long term illnesses just as the first emperors used to ?
