lol as a rather funny follow-up to this (and to Richard’s book), one of my friends in Beijing admitted that whenever he picks up a ladyfriend now, he pretends like he has a fetish for screwing a ski mask, just so that no one can take his picture.

KT, this story is all over the international media. I wasn’t looking for clicks at all; it just struck me as a great story of how officials can lose sight of what the Internet can do to their careers.

I hadn’t heard it was a fake; if it is I’ll add an update to the post. Many, many, many media will have to do the same.

@King Tubby, I’m not sure what you mean by ‘Episcopalian’, but I think I get your drift. I partly agree with you. You get sleazy/stupid politicians everywhere, but maybe this story is worth noting because they have been especially stupid and because of the interest of the Chinese public.
