“Kill us, too”

A Muslim American speaks out against Muslim butchery, and it isn’t pretty. But then again, it is.

The leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, recently issued a decree to its supporters: Kill at least one American in the next two weeks “using a sniper rifle, explosive or whatever the battle may require.”

Well, Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, I am an American too. Count me as the one of those you have asked your supporters to kill.

I am not alone, there are thousands of Muslims with me in Las Vegas, and many more millions in America, who are proud Americans and who are ready to face your challenge. You hide in your caves and behind the faces of civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq. You don’t show your faces and you have no guts to face Muslims. You thrive on the misery of thousands of Muslim youth and children who are victims of despotism, poverty and ignorance.

During the past two decades, you have brought nothing but shame and disaster to your religion and your world.

We should see more stories like this, and I hope we do. American Muslims, well integrated into Americdan society, have rejected the dogma of Bin Laden and see him for the monster he is. More of them should speak out more often.

well, compared to Europe, it’s demonstratably true. Many surveys have been done, and in spite of the increased prejudice that Muslim Americans have faced post 9/11, the vast majority are not tempted by the kinds of extremism to which Muslims in Europe are increasingly drawn.

I’d dig up a few of those surveys but have to get to work. There was a big one just a month or so ago, IIRC.

another positive story was Syria defending a US embassy, this is an open window to build a relationship with Syria and invite them into the war on terror, but I am confident Bush will not be able to extend an open arm and try a diplomatic approach without blasting them for their record of HR abuses which everyone already knows and in the end, at this very moment is counter productive, by inviting Syria in, warmly and respectfully, there can be hope for chance in Syria from within, i know this might sound crazy, but we have nothing to lose by trying something different.

Lisa, I zapped Jessica’s comment, sorry. Chip, yes, “it” is banned. But I have to delete its comments manually as they come in, so there might be a delay.

Frankly, since American Muslims can be – with the right fatwa from an imam – classified as takfir, I don’t see why this would change the salafi mindset a bit.

The only advantage in a Muslim speaking out like this is that it convinces kafirs like ourselves that not all Muslims are salafis. As for the West’s own fundamentalists, I’m not sure that it makes a difference

I really appreciate this Muslim’s talk. On another thought, I am wondering if this guy wrote something opposite, would he be arrested/tortured/sent to dark prisons?
