Washington Post gushes over Firefox

And for good reason — once you use it, you’ll never, ever think about going back to Microsoft IE. If you haven’t switched yet, read the article and see what you’re missing. Tabbed browsing changed my life. What a pleasure, to surf multiple sites with only one browser window open.

I don’t know why so many people are feeling excited about Firefox’s tab feature and consider it as a new thing. But there is similiar feature in a Chinese browser(the browser packed in OICQ software) since long long time ago.

But what Firefox wins me is that it’s extremely fast to load any pages, and if it doesn’t support any plugin, you can just click the “install” button on the top and it’ll do everything for you. It’s way better than IE or Netscape.

The tabs are just one feature, as Hailey says. It’s so easy to install and use, and so fast — and it isn’t Microsoft!

Here’s a tip that can speed Firefox up even more for all of you 🙂

In the URL field, type about:config

Next, in the filter field, type pipelining.

Then double click on network.http.pipelining and set it to true. Now, double click on network.http.pipelining and set it 4 or 8.

On pages with a large number of images, you should see quite a performance increase!

When i use MSN Messenger to check my hotmail mailbox, it chooses automatically to navigate on IE. Is there anyway i can make it use Firebox instead?
