A bad hair week for those nasty Republicans

Hilarious piece by Kenneth Quinnel on how this has been the Week from Hell for the Grand Old Party, what with Rush Limbaugh double-whammied with drug and racism charges, Karl Rove and Lewis Libby more in the news than they want to be and Robert Novak exposed, finally, as the bullshitter most of us already knew he was. And there’s more, lots more.

Certainly the most disgusting Republican sin of the week was this (and be sure to click the link for the whole foul story):

We learned that a spokesman for Senator Kit Bond (R-Insensitivity) actually created an anti-Democratic Web site that incorporated the number N8354N in its title. That, of course, was the number on the tail of the plane that crashed and killed Democrat Mel Carnahan.

Take a deep breath and visualize this. A web site mocking the death of a human being, Democrat or otherwise — it’s just so….Republican.

A while ago it seemed they could get away with anything. I know I am many thousands of miles away, but even from Singapore I think I can hear the tables turning.

Are we shocked? This is the same GOP that has a Senator that kills a motorcyclist when he flies through the stop sign, and seeks to distance himself.

I guess the motorcyclist shouldnt have been on the same street with a Republican that thought he was above the law, and went 30 MPH over the speed limit and doesn’t stop at stop signs.

Pretty amazing. How much time did the senator end up serving?

The case is in trial right now – but it’s amazing the lack of responsibility that makes up the GOP.

He pled not guilty, and has tried to spin it that it was the motorcylclists fault (I guess for being on the road with him?)

Oh come now, I think there is still a Dem in the Senate who had a little incident with a girl, a car, and a bridge. Can we just agree that both parties are slime and enough with the ‘the evvviiillll have done awful thing X’ and just dish the dirt as it surfaces?

David, I’ll buy that there’s plenty of evil on both sides. The Repubs just seem so proud of theirs; at least Teddy appeared contrite and weepy.

Well, to be fair, there’s a lady living in the White House who killed someone in a car wreck when she was 20, and she was contrite and weepy about it at the time.

I’m just waiting for the day (but not holding my breath 🙂 when the massive, apathetic bulk of Americans who haven’t registered or voted if they have, to get so pissed off that they back a come-from-nowhere unity party and spank BOTH their asses.

In 2000 the voting age population in the US was 214 million, and only 105 million voted. So Bush and Gore both got roughly 25% of the potential voters each. The rest were too disgusted and /or apathetic to bother.

Which means you would only have to get HALF of the apathetic off of there ass, and get ZERO normal voters, to win.

Science fiction dystopias have been written about really nasty scenarios where something like that happens in a crisis. I’d kinda like it, a pox on both their houses!
